Advantages of a childminding setting

It is a more flexible form of childcare that can fit in around your schedules/work times and can cover school holidays

Children receive more individual attention and help

They learn though play and real life situations-not text books and lessons-making learning fun and tailoring to the individual child

Children may find it a less threatening environment

They can learn at their own pace

Child minding covers a range of ages so siblings can be cared for together...saves on travelling for parents!

Child minders can cater better for individual tastes and preferences needs etc.

Child minders can provide a wraparound service taking and collecting, so that children can continue to attend clubs with their friends and stay part of the community

Child minders are required to maintain a high standard of childcare and to have regular inspections and update their training.

Welcome!

My name is Kristen Lang, I am an Ofsted registered and fully insured childminder. I am a member of the National Childminding Association.
I am currently doing my Diploma in Home based Childcare and have a St John Ambulance Paediatric First Aid Certificate, invaluable training which I update every 3 years. I am passionate about my professional development and do my utmost to ensure that it is continuous by enrolling on courses offered to me at regular intervals.

I can drop off and collect from Catkins, Smilers and Bluebell hill Pre-School and also Tunbury Primary School.

I live in Walderslade Woods with my fiancée who has his own CRB available for inspection with my own, 2 small children, dog, cat and fish. We are great animal lovers and our animals are included in our day, with the children learning how to handle them safely and most importantly how to love and respect animals. The children at my setting derive great pleasure from Delilah, our 7 month old Labrador Retriever as she is progressing well with her training and is of a very gentle, soft mouthed disposition.

Our home is modern and whilst always clean can often be found to be filled with toys and laughing children! Our garden is newly patio-ed which enables me to keep the area clean and disinfected. It also affords the children year round outdoor access! Both the house and garden are safe and secure, Our property is set on split levels but I counteract the possible dangers of this by keeping stair gates at each stairwell and having safety mats at the bottom of the steps. I also have risk assessments in place that are actioned daily.
Both house and garden are well stocked with a wide range of toys and other resources. We are a non-smoking household and I have my own transport. I have various car seats, buggies, highchairs, feeding equipment other essentials which are all well maintained and safety checked.

We spend a lot of time out in the fresh air and love to go on nature walks through the woods and meet the children's friends at Tunbury park! As the title suggests, we are "do bees NOT don't bees!" although everyone needs some time to recharge their batteries and there is always time set aside each day for relaxation and a well loved story. My setting is very child led and although I do plan great activities both monthly and weekly, nothing is set in stone and we will often shelve an idea for another day, to go off roaming the woods in search of a lesser spotted gulping twit-chit or some other creature from our imaginations!

I aim to be as flexible as possible to ensure that your needs and those of your child can be met fully, If you have any special requirements then please contact me because I may just be able to help!
